Qetron X – Frequently Asked Questions
7,200 kWh raw energy (5,760 kWh usable). 40ft container. Serviceable saltwater battery.

1. How much energy does one Qetron X container store?

It stores 7,200 kWh of raw energy (5,760 kWh usable at 80% depth of discharge). That is enough to run a large factory, a data centre, or an island micro‑grid for a full day.

2. Is the battery safe? Can it catch fire?

No fire risk. The electrolyte is water‑based zinc chloride – essentially saltwater. It cannot catch fire or explode. There is no thermal runaway, no flammable solvents, and no toxic fumes. The battery is safe to install inside existing buildings.

3. How long does the Qetron X last?

The main unit (container, carbon plates, plastic trays, steel racks) lasts 15‑20 years. Only the zinc plates are consumable – they are replaced annually (every ~10 months if cycled daily). You never need to replace the whole battery.

4. How do I replace the zinc plates?

Each tray slides out like a drawer. A removable frame holds all zinc plates. You lift the frame out, drop in a new one, and slide the tray back. Takes about 10 minutes per tray. One person can do it, but two make it easier (each tray weighs <90 kg).

5. How much do replacement zinc plates cost?

We sell annual refill kits. The cost is a small fraction of the original container price. Contact us for current pricing.

6. What is the round‑trip efficiency?

70‑80% (solar → battery → load). This is lower than lithium (90‑95%), but the total cost of ownership over 10 years is far lower because the main unit lasts longer and you only replace zinc plates, not the whole system.

7. Can I use it with my existing solar panels?

Yes. You need a 48V MPPT charge controller sized to your solar array. Any standard 48V off‑grid equipment works (Victron, Epever, Growatt, etc.). We do not lock you into proprietary inverters.

8. What is the operating temperature range?

  • Standard: -10°C to +50°C (14°F to 122°F)
  • With antifreeze additive: down to -30°C (-22°F)
  • With heated container option: down to -40°C (-40°F)

9. How much does the full container weigh?

Total weight (wet, full) is ~30 metric tons. It ships as a standard 40ft container on any flatbed truck or ship.

10. What warranty do you offer?

  • Main unit (container, carbon plates, trays, racks): 5 years
  • Zinc plates: consumable (quality guaranteed, no warranty)
  • Electronics (if supplied by us): 1 year
  • Extended warranty available

11. Can I expand the system later?

Yes. Add more Qetron X containers in parallel. Each container is independent. Start with one, add more as your energy needs grow.

12. Is the battery recyclable?

Yes – over 98% by weight. Zinc plates go to metal recyclers. Carbon plates, steel racks, and PP trays are also recyclable. The electrolyte is non‑toxic and can be neutralised.

13. How does the cost compare to lithium?

Launch offer (first 5 containers): €40/kWh (≈ $44/kWh) – 5‑8× cheaper than lithium.
Regular price (after first 5): €60/kWh (≈ $66/kWh).
Volume discount (10+ containers): from €50/kWh (negotiable).

Even at regular price, Qetron X is half the price of lithium (€150‑250/kWh) and 40‑60% cheaper than other saltwater batteries. You save 70‑80% on total cost of ownership over 10 years.

14. Can I install it indoors?

Yes. The battery is safe for indoor installation (warehouse, factory floor, basement). Only a small vent is needed for hydrogen release – no special ventilation required.

15. Do I need a special inverter?

No. Any 48V pure sine wave inverter works. We recommend inverters from Victron, Epever, Growatt, or Outback. For the 400V optional version, you need a compatible high‑voltage inverter – contact us for recommendations.

16. How long does shipping take?

We typically ship within 8‑12 weeks after order confirmation. Delivery to Europe, Latin America, and Pacific islands takes 2‑6 weeks depending on destination.

17. Do you offer training?

Yes. We provide:

  • A detailed manual with pictures
  • Video tutorials for zinc replacement
  • Remote support via WhatsApp
  • On‑site training for large orders (10+ containers)

18. How do I get a quote?
